...FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 8 AM EDT
THURSDAY...
* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures in the middle 20s are expected
both late tonight and Wednesday night. Slightly milder readings
will be possible within the urban heat island of metro Detroit
as well as along the immediate Great Lakes shorelines.
* WHERE...All of southeast Michigan.
* WHEN...From midnight tonight to 8 AM EDT Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Widespread freeze conditions will kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The upcoming cold nights will be more
impactful than usually for late April given the early green up
this season.

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
