Coastal Flood Warning issued September 26 at 11:05AM EDT until September 27 at 12:00AM EDT by NWS Key West FL* WHAT...The persistent tropical storm force winds will exacerbatecoastal flooding across the Florida Keys today. These winds,combined with persistent positive anomalies and high tide, willresult in storm surge flooding of 1 to 3 feet above groundlevel, or mean higher high water. For reference, the recent KingTides reached 1.5 feet above mean higher high water. Inundationpeaked for Atlantic facing shorelines earlier this morning, andmay persist through the afternoon low tides. We have lowconfidence in a potential Gulf side surge this evening, asHurricane Helene pulls away from the Keys.* WHERE...The Florida Keys.* WHEN...Through this evening.* IMPACTS...Storm surge flooding will cause numerous roads to beclosed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, andsome critical infrastructure will be inundated. Flooding mayextend over streets and low elevation properties a few blocksfrom the shoreline. Some shoreline erosion will occur.Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Iftravel is required, do not drive around barricades or throughwater of unknown depth.
