Flood Watch issued June 3 at 5:23AM MDT until June 4 at 12:00AM MDT by NWS Pocatello IDA low pressure storm system and associated atmospheric river ofmoisture will bring a period of moderate to heavy rainfall to themountains west of Ketchum, Galena Summit, and Stanley. 1 to 2inches of rainfall is expected, with locally higher amountsalong and west of the spine of the Sawtooths, and lower amountseast of Idaho Highway 75. A couple thunderstorms are alsopossible, especially Monday afternoon. In addition, temperaturesabove freezing throughout the event will result in an additional 1to 3 inches of liquid melting out of the high elevation snowpack.This combination of moderate to heavy rain and melting snow mayresult in strong rises and localized flooding along smallercreeks and streams, as well as localized rockfalls and landslides.Some backcountry roads and trails may become impassable. Theperiod of greatest potential impacts is expected from 2 AM earlyMonday morning through 8 PM Monday evening. Anyone with plans inthe backcountry and mountains in the Ketchum, Galena Summit, andStanley corridor should monitor this situation closely and beprepared for hazardous conditions.
