Flood Watch issued June 8 at 12:42PM CDT until June 9 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of Kansas, including the following areas, Atchison KS, Johnson KS, Leavenworth, Miami and Wyandotte and west central Missouri, including the following areas, Clay, Jackson and Platte. * WHEN...Through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - There is a chance for isolate storms this afternoon, and a complex of storms is likely tonight. Heat Advisory issued June 9 at 12:44AM CDT until June 9 at 10:00PM CDT by NWS Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO * WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Kansas and central and west central Missouri. * WHEN...From noon today to 10 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Southern Leavenworth County in northeastern Kansas... Wyandotte County in northeastern Kansas... * WHEN...Until 445 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1252 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Overland Park, Olathe, Shawnee, Lenexa, Leawood, Prairie Village, Gardner, Merriam, Mission, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Spring Hill, Tonganoxie, Basehor, Edwardsville, Fairway, Mission Hills, Riverside and Edgerton. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
