In northeast Minnesota, centraland northern St. Louis County. This includes the Tribal Lands ofthe Bois Forte Band, Nett Lake, Deer Creek and, Lake Vermilionareas. Recreation spots such as Voyageurs National Park. This alsoincludes the Boundary Waters western area.* WHEN...Through Wednesday morning.* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- Showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy raintoday, with localized areas receiving up to 1 to 3 inches ofrain. This will fall on top of already saturated soils andrivers with normal to above normal streamflow. The heaviestrain is expected early this morning and through the daytoday.- Flood safety information can be found atwww.weather.gov/safety/flood.Portage and hiking trails may become slick and potentiallyimpassable and ponding of water could inundate low-lying campsitesacross the Boundary Waters.

In northeast Minnesota, St. Louis County.* WHEN...Until 400 PM CDT Wednesday.* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lyingand flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roadsremain closed due to flooding.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 900 PM CDT Tuesday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain dueto thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to beginshortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 6 inches of rainhave fallen as of 800 pm CDT Tuesday evening.- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possibletonight. This includes the Little Fork River and VermilionRivers in the Rainy Basin.- Flood safety information can be found atwww.weather.gov/safety/flood.Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it isharder to recognize the dangers of flooding.Campers and hikers should avoid flooded trail crossings. If campingat a site along or near the banks of rivers or streams, move awayfrom those locations and seek higher ground. Trails in hilly terraincan quickly become unstable during or shortly after heavy rainfall.Portage and hiking trails may be impassable and low-lying campsitesmay be inundated with excessive runoff in this section of theBoundary Waters as flooding is occurring or imminent.
