Flood Advisory issued June 10 at 11:33AM MDT until June 10 at 6:30PM MDT by NWS Billings MTHalf an inch to an inch of rain fell in the Beartooth/Absarokamountains overnight Sunday into Monday morning. Much of this fell ona ripe snowpack above 8500 feet, likely enhancing snowmelt andintensifying runoff into small creeks and streams emanating from themountains. It may take 12 to 24 hours for this runoff to work out ofthe mountains into more populated foothills locations. With streamsalready running high this additional runoff may push these streamsout of their banks. Probability of minor flooding of small creeksand streams in the advisory area is 70%. The Crazy mountainsreceived much less precipitation last night (~ 0.25 in), thereforethe advisory for the Crazy mountains and adjacent foothills has beencancelled.* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues.* WHERE...A portion of south central Montana, including thefollowing counties, southwestern Carbon, southern Park,southwestern Stillwater and southwestern Sweet Grass.* WHEN...Until 630 PM MDT Monday.* IMPACTS...Minor flooding of areas adjacent to small creeks andstreams. Water may fill culverts and flow over rural roads inplaces. Road damage is possible where water flows over roadways.Stream bank erosion may be extensive in spots.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 1120 AM MDT, Additional runoff from last nightsprecipitation, into already full streams and creeks, willlikely result in minor flooding along small streams andcreeks flowing out of the Beartooth/Absaroka mountains.- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall isexpected. Snowmelt will continue to keep waterways runninghigh through the week.- Some locations that will experience flooding include...Red Lodge, Bearcreek, Chico Hot Springs, Nye, Mc Leod, MysticLake, Dean, Alpine, Pine Creek, Jardine, Chico, Emigrant,Roscoe, Fishtail, Luther, Corwin Springs, Fox and Washoe.- http://www.weather.gov/safety/floodTurn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads, find analternate route.
