Heat Advisory issued June 5 at 1:55AM PDT until June 6 at 8:00PM PDT by NWS Reno NV* WHAT...High temperatures of 95 to 100 today and Thursday.* WHERE...Lower elevations of Northern Washoe County, GreaterReno-Carson City-Minden Area, and Mineral and Southern LyonCounties.* WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 8 PM PDT Thursday.* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and sunny skies may cause heatillnesses to occur, especially for those sensitive to heat andoutdoors for extended periods of time. Since this is the firstheat event of the summer season, many people are not yetacclimatized to heat and may be impacted more than normal.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...These are potentially record setting highsfor the date, and unusually early to be close to 100 degrees. Theaverage first 100 degrees for Reno is not until July 11th.Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out ofthe sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children andpets should never be left unattended in vehicles under anycircumstances.
