Heat Advisory issued June 24 at 10:07AM CDT until June 24 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Sioux Falls SD* WHAT...Heat index values up to 106 expected.* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Iowa, southwestMinnesota, northeast Nebraska, and central, east central, southcentral, and southeast South Dakota.* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening.* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heatillnesses.Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out ofthe sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loosefitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morningor evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion andheat stroke.To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety andHealth Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks inshaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heatshould be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is anemergency! Call 9 1 1.

Flood Warning issued June 23 at 9:43AM CDT until June 24 at 12:45PM CDT by NWS Sioux Falls SD* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is ongoing. Thisreplaces the earlier Flood Warning.* WHERE...A portion of southeast South Dakota, including thefollowing counties, Bon Homme, Clay, Davison, Hanson, Hutchinson,McCook, Turner and Yankton.* WHEN...Until 1245 PM CDT Monday.* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lyingand flood-prone locations continues. Numerous roads remain closeddue to flooding.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 943 AM CDT, Emergency management reported flooding fromearlier heavy rain continues. Between 3 and 9 inches of rainhave fallen.- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall isexpected.- Some locations that will experience flooding include...Mitchell, Parkston, Parker, Lake Vermillion State RecreationArea, Salem, Freeman, Scotland, Marion, Canistota,Alexandria, Menno, Bridgewater, Montrose, Emery, Irene,Ethan, Mayfield, Kaylor, Monroe and Spencer In McCook County.- http://www.weather.gov/safety/floodTurn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
