Hydrologic Outlook issued June 1 at 3:11PM PDT by NWS Pendleton ORESFPDTSynopsis: An atmospheric river will bring abundant moisture to theregion with an incoming system Sunday through Monday. Rainfallamounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected along the Oregon andWashington Cascade crest and in the higher mountains of northeastOregon and southeast Washington. These amounts may be increasedlocally by 1 to 2 inches of snow melt from what remains of the highmountain snowpack.Where: The East Slopes of the Washington and Oregon Cascades, TheNorthern and Southern Blue Mountains, The Blue Mountain Foothills ofWashington and Oregon, Wallowa County and the Grande Ronde Valley.When: Rain will arrive along the Cascades early Sunday morning andin the eastern mountains late Sunday morning and afternoon. Rainwill taper off Monday afternoon and evening.What: The precipitation and possible snow melt will lead to rises onarea creeks, streams and rivers. Rivers are low enough that only theNaches River at Cliffdell and the Naches River at Naches areexpected to reach bankfull Monday and only by a few inches at thoselocations. However, with the heavier periods of rain rapid riseswill be possible on smaller streams and creeks, especially inWallowa County and this is the main concern for the next couple ofdays.An update will be provided Sunday morning.
