Heat Advisory issued July 11 at 1:01PM AKDT until July 11 at 11:00PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK * WHAT...Hot temperatures as high as 85 degrees. * WHERE...Yukon Flats. * WHEN...Until 11 PM AKDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Individuals not accustomed to these unusually hot temperatures for this region may experience heat related illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The warmest temperatures will be away from the Yukon River. Drink plenty of fluids and check up on elderly and vulnerable relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when working in the sun. Wear sunscreen and lightweight, loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Close curtains during the daytime to reduce sun insolation into the home and open windows at night to allow the home to cool off. Utilize fans or community buildings with air conditioning.

Red Flag Warning issued July 11 at 8:00AM AKDT until July 11 at 11:00PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks AK * AFFECTED AREA...Yukon Flats. * TIMING...From noon today to 11 PM AKDT this evening. * THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE INDEX...Scattered * WINDS...South 5 to 10 mph. Gusts to 15 mph. Outflow winds of 35 to as high as 50 mph. * HUMIDITY...As low as 25 to 30 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Highs in the mid 80s. Lows in the lower 50s. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected due to thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will come with frequent lightning and outflow boundaries. Any lightning can cause new ignitions since the fuels are dry and burnable. A Red Flag Warning means that conditions are occurring or will occur which could lead to the development of large and dangerous fires. It is directed toward fire agencies, and through them, to the public. Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the field of this Red Flag Warning.
