Red Flag Warning issued June 16 at 2:14PM PDT until June 17 at 3:00PM PDT by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM PDT MONDAY FOR GUSTYNORTHWEST TO NORTH WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THEINTERSTATE-5 CORRIDOR IN NORTHWEST LOS ANGELES COUNTY AND THEVENTURA COUNTY MOUNTAINS....Dangerous fire-weather conditions are expected to continuethrough at least Monday afternoon. Strong northwest to northwinds will combine with low daytime relative humidity, and onlypoor to moderate overnight relative humidity recovery. Theseconditions will be favorable for the rapid growth and spread ofwildfires, including the ongoing Post Fire complex. This is a RedFlag Warning for gusty northwest to north winds and low relativehumidity for the Interstate-5 corridor in northwest Los AngelesCounty and the Ventura County mountains in effect until 3 PM PDTMonday, and there is a 40 percent chance that this Warning isextended into Monday night or Tuesday in later forecasts.* WINDS...Northwest to north winds will gust to 45 to 55 mph thisafternoon, increasing to 60 to 70 mph tonight, and thengradually decreasing to 30 to 50 mph through the day Monday.Sustained wind speeds will generally be in the 20 to 40 mphrange. For Monday night into Tuesday morning, northerly windsare again expected to strengthen and may shift to the northeast.* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum afternoon relative humidity valuesare expected to range from 15 to 25 percent, locally as low as10 percent in downslope-flow favored areas. Only poor tomoderate overnight recovery to around 25 to 40 percent tonight.* IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for rapid rates of firegrowth and spread, especially tonight.A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditionsare either occurring now, or will shortly. Air Quality Alert issued June 16 at 3:51PM PDT by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CAThe South Coast Air Quality Management District has issued an AirQuality Alert due to elevated fine particulate matter levels due towildfire smoke across portions of Los Angeles County. This AirQuality Alert is IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM PDT MONDAY.If you smell smoke or see ash due to a wildfire, remain indoors withwindows and doors closed or seek alternative shelter, if feasible.Avoid vigorous physical activity and run your air conditioner and/oran air purifier. If possible, do not use whole house fans or swampcoolers that bring in outside air. Avoid burning wood in yourfireplace or firepit and minimize sources of indoor air pollutionsuch as candles, incense, pan-frying, and grilling. If you must beoutdoors, keep the time brief and wear a tightly-fitted N-95 or P-100respirator to help reduce exposure. Limit the use of gasolinepowered lawn and garden equipment.Exposure to particle pollution can cause serious health problems,aggravate lung disease, cause asthma attacks and acute bronchitis,and increase risk of respiratory infections. People with heart orlung diseases should follow their doctor's advice for dealing withepisodes of unhealthy air quality.
