Looking forward to Thursday and Thursday night,Hurricane Helene will bring an additional 5 to 10 inches ofrain, with local amounts to near 15 inches. Heaviest amountsare expected from the Forgotten Coast near Apalachicolanorthward. Hurricane Warning issued September 26 at 5:09AM EDT by NWS Tallahassee FL* LOCATIONS AFFECTED- Madison* WIND- LATEST LOCAL FORECAST: Equivalent Cat 1 Hurricane force wind- Peak Wind Forecast: 70-90 mph with gusts to 110 mph- Window for Tropical Storm force winds: early this afternoonuntil early Friday morning- Window for Hurricane force winds: early this evening untilearly Friday morning- THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY THAT INCLUDES TYPICAL FORECASTUNCERTAINTY IN TRACK, SIZE AND INTENSITY: Potential for windgreater than 110 mph- The wind threat has increased from the previous assessment.- PLAN: Plan for extreme wind of equivalent CAT 3 hurricaneforce or higher.- PREPARE: Remaining efforts to protect life and propertyshould be urgently completed. Prepare for catastrophic winddamage.- ACT: Move to safe shelter before the wind becomes hazardous.- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Devastating to Catastrophic- Structural damage to sturdy buildings, some with completeroof and wall failures.
