Special Weather Statement issued June 17 at 9:20AM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL Winds may abruptly shift to the southeast or south and become quite gusty in the wake of the strong storms over the next hour or two. These winds could gust 50 to near 60 mph, which could blow around any loose objects and make for hazardous driving for high profile vehicles. There have been some reports of southeast winds gusting over 50 mph along and north of the Highway 30 corridor well after the stronger storms had passed.

Flood Watch issued June 17 at 6:51AM CDT until June 17 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northwest Illinois, including the following areas, in north central Illinois, Bureau and Putnam. In northwest Illinois, Henry IL and Whiteside. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall, with some seeing repeating rounds of storms though the day. There will be the potential to see around 2 inches or more of rainfall. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued June 17 at 9:15AM CDT until June 17 at 9:30AM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL At 915 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Kasbeer to near Tiskilwa to near Camp Grove, moving east at 55 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Princeton, Wyanet, Sheffield, Tiskilwa, Buda, Neponset, Malden, Manlius, Milo, Dover, New Bedford, Providence, Kasbeer, Lone Tree Corners, and Bureau County Fairgrounds. This also includes Hennepin Canal State Trail and Mautino State Fish & Wildlife Area. This includes the following highways... Interstate 80 in Illinois between mile markers 40 and 61. Interstate 180 between mile markers 11 and 13. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 300 PM CDT for north central Illinois. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
