Tornado Watch issued June 17 at 7:52AM CDT until June 17 at 3:00PM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED TORNADO WATCH 340 IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN ILLINOIS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 4 COUNTIES IN NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS BUREAU PUTNAM IN WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS HANCOCK MCDONOUGH IN MISSOURI THIS WATCH INCLUDES 2 COUNTIES IN NORTHEAST MISSOURI CLARK SCOTLAND THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF CARTHAGE, HENNEPIN, KAHOKA, MACOMB, MEMPHIS, AND PRINCETON.

Southern Warren County in west central Illinois... * Until 315 PM CDT Wednesday. * At 908 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Macomb, Bushnell, Colchester, Blandinsville, Industry, Good Hope, Prairie City, Bardolph, Tennessee, Sciota, Western Illinois University, Fandon, Adair, New Philadelphia, Little Swan Lake, Colmar, Walnut Grove, Plymouth, Macomb Municipal Airport and McDonough County 4-H Grounds. This includes the following State Parks... Argyle Lake State Park. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Northeastern Hancock County in west central Illinois... Southern Henderson County in west central Illinois... Southern Warren County in west central Illinois... McDonough County in west central Illinois... * Until 1000 AM CDT. * At 854 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Hopper to near Camp Eastman, moving southeast at 60 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. * Locations impacted include... Macomb, Fort Madison, Bushnell, Colchester, La Harpe, Roseville, Dallas City, Stronghurst, Avon, Blandinsville, Industry, Good Hope, Prairie City, Carman, Terre Haute, Bardolph, Raritan, Tennessee, Sciota, and Gulf Port. This also includes Argyle Lake State Park. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 300 PM CDT for west central Illinois.
