Flood Watch issued July 10 at 11:20AM CDT until July 11 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS St Louis MO * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southwest Illinois, including the following area, Randolph IL and Missouri, including the following areas, Crawford MO, Iron MO, Madison MO, Reynolds MO, Saint Francois MO, Sainte Genevieve MO and Washington MO. * WHEN...Through Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast through the day on Saturday. Any storm will be capable of producing heavy rainfall. The biggest concern for additional flash flooding is in areas that saw the most rain last night into early this morning. Up to 6-12+" of rain fell in a northwest to southeast axis from southern Crawford through northeast Reynolds, western and southern Iron, and southwest Madison counties. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Chester, Sparta, Red Bud, Bremen, Steeleville, Percy, Coulterville, Tilden, Evansville, Baldwin, Eden, Preston, Blair, Prairie Du Rocher, Prairie, Ellis Grove, Ruma and Houston. This includes the following State Parks... Piney Creek Ravine State Natural Area, Randolph County State Recreation Area, World Shooting and Recreational Complex, Turkey Bluffs State Fish and Wildlife Area and Kaskaskia River State Fish and Wildlife Area. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
