Flood Watch issued June 4 at 1:00PM CDT until June 5 at 4:00AM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Kansas, including the following counties, in north central Kansas, Clay, Cloud, Ottawa, Republic and Washington. In northeast Kansas, Brown, Jackson, Marshall, Nemaha, Pottawatomie and Riley. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rounds of showers and storms with rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour could lead to flooding. Total rainfall of 1 to 2 inches are likely across most of the area, with isolated locations seeing up to 4 inches of rain. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Solomon River at Minneapolis affecting Ottawa County. Big Blue River near Blue Rapids affecting Marshall County. Solomon River near Niles affecting Saline, Ottawa and Dickinson Counties. Republican River at Clay Center affecting Clay County. Saline River at Tescott affecting Saline and Ottawa Counties. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Solomon River near Niles. * WHEN...From Friday morning to early Monday morning. * IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, Water begins to overflow into the low portion of a cultivated field on the right bank, upstream, adjacent to the gage site. At 23.0 feet, Rural overflow begins around the community of Niles. At 24.0 feet, Low land flooding continues along the river. At 27.0 feet, Arrowhead Road west of Niles floods. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 11.2 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow morning to a crest of 29.4 feet Saturday morning. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday afternoon. - Flood stage is 24.0 feet. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
