Flood Watch issued June 5 at 1:08PM CDT until June 6 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Kansas, including the following counties, Brown, Jackson, Marshall and Nemaha. * WHEN...From 7 PM CDT this evening through Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms from Thursday night into early Friday morning produced areas of 5-9 inches of rainfall in the watch area. Additional thunderstorms are expected to initially develop in southeastern Nebraska this evening. While there is some uncertainty in how far south these storms will move, if they make it into far northeast Kansas, there is high-end potential for another 1-2 inches of rain to fall where grounds are already well saturated. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Flood Warning issued June 5 at 9:10AM CDT until June 5 at 4:15PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall overnight is expected to continue through this afternoon due to runoff. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Kansas, including the following counties, Brown and Nemaha. * WHEN...Until 415 PM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 908 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain of 4 to 9 inches had fallen across the area overnight. The runoff from this heavy rainfall will cause additional flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hiawatha, Sabetha, Seneca, Horton, Everest, Fairview, Robinson, Morrill, Bern, Reserve, Powhattan, Oneida, Hamlin, Willis, Kickapoo Reservation and Baileyville. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
