Special Weather Statement issued July 3 at 9:28PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 927 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms over Nancy, or 8 miles west of Somerset, moving north at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Somerset, Monticello, Science Hill, Burnside, Cains Store, Stab, Bobtown, Nancy, Parnell, Pointer, Bandy, Pongo, Bronston, Woodstock, Hansford, Dabney, Valley Oak, Willailla, Pulaski County Park, and Somerset Pulaski Airport. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS... Interstate 75 in east central Kentucky between mile markers 51 and 53. Kentucky Highway 80 in Pulaski County between mile markers 17 and 37. Louis B. Nunn Parkway If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. If on or near Lake Cumberland, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
