Special Weather Statement issued July 3 at 11:25PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 1124 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Stony Fork Junction, or 9 miles northeast of Pineville, moving north at 5 mph. HAZARD...Heavy rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Pineville, Sandy Fork, Wallsend, Varilla, Barnyard, Coldiron, Salt Gum, Beverly, Stony Fork Junction, Black Snake, Field, Erose, Tacky Town, Saylor, Straight Creek, Blanche, Mills, Cary, Rella, and Fourmile. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS... U.S. Highway 25 East in Bell County between mile markers 12 and 18. U.S. Highway 25 East in Knox County near mile marker 1. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
