Heat Advisory issued June 9 at 2:01PM EDT until June 10 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI * WHAT...Heat index values up to 100 expected. * WHERE...Lenawee, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne Counties. * WHEN...From noon to 8 PM EDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. Check with local emergency management officials for information on cooling center availability.

At 828 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds up to 30 knots. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 13 nm west of New Baltimore to near St. Clair Shores to near The Ambassador Bridge, moving east at 15 knots. strong thunderstorms will be near... The Ambassador Bridge, St. Clair Shores, and Belle Isle around 835 PM EDT. Grosse Pointe around 840 PM EDT. Metro Beach Metropark Marina around 850 PM EDT. Mt Clemens Harbor Of Refuge and New Baltimore around 855 PM EDT. St Clair Flats Old Channel Light around 905 PM EDT. Mariners can expect gusty winds up to 30 knots, locally higher waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.

Movement was east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Heavy rainfall and wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and damage unsecured objects. Strong thunderstorms will be near... Warren, St. Clair Shores, Detroit, Sterling Heights, Dearborn, and Clinton Township around 830 PM EDT. Mount Clemens, Downtown Detroit, and Macomb Township around 835 PM EDT. Grosse Pointe and Belle Isle around 845 PM EDT. New Baltimore around 905 PM EDT. Other locations impacted by these storms include Anchorville, Melvindale, Roseville, Shelby Township, Ray Center, Utica, Washington, Harper Woods, Grosse Pointe Shores, and Center Line. People attending Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre , and Comerica Park should seek safe shelter immediately! If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
