In northeast Minnesota, centraland northern St. Louis County. This includes the Tribal Lands ofthe Bois Forte Band, Nett Lake, Deer Creek and, Lake Vermilionareas. Recreation spots such as Voyageurs National Park. This alsoincludes the Boundary Waters western area.* WHEN...Through Wednesday morning.* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- Showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy raintoday, with localized areas receiving up to 1 to 3 inches ofrain. This will fall on top of already saturated soils andrivers with normal to above normal streamflow. The heaviestrain is expected early this morning and through the daytoday.- Flood safety information can be found atwww.weather.gov/safety/flood.Portage and hiking trails may become slick and potentiallyimpassable and ponding of water could inundate low-lying campsitesacross the Boundary Waters.

Between 1 and 2.5inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing orexpected to begin shortly.HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.SOURCE...Radar.IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poordrainage and low-lying areas.Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...Walker, Breezy Point, Pequot Lakes, Crosslake, Pine River, DeerRiver, Emily, Marcell, Bigfork, Fifty Lakes, Remer, Wabedo, NettLake, Hackensack, Backus, Longville, Ash Lake, Effie, Bena andFederal Dam.Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles.Campers and hikers should avoid flooded trail crossings. If campingat a site along or near the banks of rivers or streams, move awayfrom those locations and seek higher ground. Trails in hilly terraincan quickly become unstable during or shortly after heavy rainfall.Report observed flooding to local emergency services or lawenforcement and to the National Weather Service in Duluth when youcan do so safely.
