In northeast Minnesota, centraland northern St. Louis County. This includes the Tribal Lands ofthe Bois Forte Band, Nett Lake, Deer Creek and, Lake Vermilionareas. Recreation spots such as Voyageurs National Park. This alsoincludes the Boundary Waters western area.* WHEN...Through Wednesday morning.* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- Showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy raintoday, with localized areas receiving up to 1 to 3 inches ofrain. This will fall on top of already saturated soils andrivers with normal to above normal streamflow. The heaviestrain is expected early this morning and through the daytoday.- Flood safety information can be found atwww.weather.gov/safety/flood.Portage and hiking trails may become slick and potentiallyimpassable and ponding of water could inundate low-lying campsitesacross the Boundary Waters.

Expectmany areas of slow moving or standing water.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 915 PM CDT Tuesday, rain gauge observations and dopplerradar showed heavy rain that accumulated in the warned arealate Tuesday evening from thunderstorms. Flooding is alreadyoccurring and expected to last into Wednesday daytime.Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen.- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in thewarned area through early Tuesday night, but no additionalaccumulations are expected by early Wednesday morning.- Some locations that will experience flooding include...Ely, Virginia, Eveleth, Mountain Iron, Hoyt Lakes, Gilbert,Aurora, Babbitt, Biwabik, Cherry, Embarrass, Winton, BirchLake, White Iron Lake, Bear Head Lake State Park, Robinson,Burntside Lake, Fall Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe AreaWilderness Near Trout Lake and Basswood Lake.- Flood safety information can be found atwww.weather.gov/safety/flood.Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize thedangers of flooding.Portage and hiking trails may be impassable and low-lying campsitesmay be inundated with excessive runoff in this section of theBoundary Waters as flooding is occurring.
