Flood Warning issued June 19 at 4:47AM CDT until June 19 at 4:00PM CDT by NWS Duluth MN* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.* WHERE...In Minnesota, Cook, Lake and St. Louis Counties.* WHEN...Until 400 PM CDT Wednesday.* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lyingand flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streamscontinue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 442 AM CDT Wednesday, Between 3 and 5 inches of rain havefallen and rivers and streams remain high and some continueto rapidly increase. Law enforcement reports flooding alongportions of Highway 61 along with debris on the road,especially between Beaver Bay and Lutsen. The Baptism andBeaver Rivers continue to rapidly increase. These high riverlevels will impact many of the hiking and camping areas alongthe North Shore.- Some locations that will experience flooding include...Grand Marais, Gunflint Lake, Two Harbors, Silver Bay, GrandPortage, Clear Lake, Lutsen, Tofte, Beaver Bay, Fairbanks,Wolf Lake, George Manitou State Park, Dumbbell Lake, SugarLoaf Cove, Little Marais, Taconite Harbor, Finland, Isabella,Temperance River State Park and Forest Center.- Flood safety information can be found atwww.weather.gov/safety/flood.Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles.Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize thedangers of flooding.Campers and hikers should avoid flooded trail crossings. If campingat a site along or near the banks of rivers or streams, move awayfrom those locations and seek higher ground. Trails in hilly terraincan quickly become unstable during or shortly after heavy rainfall.
