Flood Watch issued June 13 at 12:53AM CDT until June 14 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Springfield MO * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas, including the following areas, Bourbon, Cherokee and Crawford and Missouri, including the following areas, Barry, Barton, Benton, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Greene, Hickory, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Polk, St. Clair, Stone and Vernon. * WHEN...Through Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are forecast to move through the area through tonight (Saturday night), bringing a widespread 1 to 3 inches of rain with locally higher amounts up to 6 inches possible. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Little Osage River near Horton affecting Vernon County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring. * WHERE...Little Osage River near Horton. * WHEN...Until late tonight. * IMPACTS...At 41.0 feet, minor flooding affects low lying areas near the gage site and farmland along the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 6:45 PM CDT Friday the stage was 41.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 41.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 6:45 PM CDT Friday was 43.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage late this evening and continue falling to 35.4 feet Wednesday evening. - Flood stage is 41.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 41.5 feet on 04/25/2020. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
