Northwestern Gloucester County in southern New Jersey... * Until 715 PM EDT. * At 306 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas. * Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Philadelphia, Camden, Gloucester City, Chester, Deptford, West Deptford, Bellmawr, Woodbury, Paulsboro, Westville, Woodbury Heights and National Park. This includes the following highways... Interstate 295 in New Jersey between mile markers 14 and 29. New Jersey Turnpike near exit 2. Interstate 676 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 4. Interstate 76 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 3. Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 11 at 3:31PM EDT until July 11 at 4:00PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ At 331 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Turnersville, or 7 miles southeast of Gloucester City, moving southeast at 20 mph. At 304 PM EDT, a 56 mph wind gust was measured at the Philadelphia International Airport. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Wind damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible. Locations impacted include... Gloucester City, Cherry Hill, Deptford, Voorhees, Glassboro, Lindenwold, Bellmawr, Woodbury, Pitman, Clayton, Berlin, Magnolia, Westville, Woodbury Heights, Brooklawn, Chesilhurst, Sicklerville, Barclay-Kingston, Echelon, and Ashland. This includes the following highways... New Jersey Turnpike near exit 3. Interstate 76 in New Jersey near mile marker 0. Interstate 295 in New Jersey between mile markers 23 and 34. Atlantic City Expressway between mile markers 37 and 44. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
