Extreme Heat Warning issued July 3 at 5:47PM EDT until July 3 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS State College PA * WHAT...For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110. For the Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 104 expected. * WHERE...A portion of central Pennsylvania. * WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM EDT this evening. For the Heat Advisory, until 8 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High temperatures will exceed 100 degrees in many places today with even higher heat index values expected. Temperatures will be a few degrees lower on Saturday, but heat risks will continue. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and stay in an air-conditioned room.

Central Schuylkill County in central Pennsylvania... * Until 645 PM EDT. * At 602 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Aristes, moving southeast at 30 mph. This storm was part of a cluster of strong to severe storms. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Pottsville, Tamaqua, Mount Carmel, Schuylkill Haven, Shenandoah, Minersville, Mahanoy City, Frackville, St. Clair, Kulpmont, Ashland, and Orwigsburg. This includes Interstate 81 from mile markers 117 to 135. Stay inside a well built structure and keep away from windows. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency.
