Special Weather Statement issued June 24 at 3:25PM EDT by NWS Caribou ME At 325 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Greenville, moving southeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Dover-Foxcroft, Greenville, Guilford, Brownville Junction, Milo, Monson, Elliottsville, Lake View Plantation, Orneville, Ebeemee, Brownville, Sebec, Atkinson, Medford, Shirley, Willimantic, Beaver Cove, Bowerbank, Lake View, and Onawa. This includes State Highway 11 between Milo and Brownville Junction. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
